Probabilistic simulation

Probabilistic simulations are performed by running Monte Carlo simulations, where a selected number of parameters are assigned statistical distributions (PDFs) to account for their uncertainty. Then the model is simulated repeatedly with input parameter values randomly drawn using these distributions.

Probabilistic simulations

To run probabilistic simulations, you must define settings for the simulation, such as number of iterations, selection of parameters and definition of parameter correlation.

  1. Assign PDFs to uncertain parameters.

  2. Set probabilistic settings

    1. Select number of simulations
    2. Select sampling scheme
    3. Select parameters to include in the analysis
  3. Change the Output option in simulation settings to Produce specified output only.

  4. Select Simulation | Probabilistic from the simulation menu.

  5. Run simulations. See Running simulations.

  6. Analyse results. See Creating charts and tables.
